Specialty gases are primarily intended for research, analysis and control laboratories. They provide power and calibrate laboratory equipment.

A method of analysis is a comparative method. Generally, the procedure is to measure a zero gas as well as one or more reference gases whose composition is well characterized, then we deduce the analyzer response. Accordingly, the analysis final result depends on the reliability of the standard gases used.

Storing standard gas cylinders allowing these calibrations in his laboratory is expensive and restrictive a security point of view.

GasMix ™ avoids these issues. Indeed, only one high / medium content bottle and a diluent gas are needed for several standard gases, drastically reducing the bottles stock.

Moreover, the period of validity of a gas standard is an important criterion. Most of low levels bottles certificates offer 6 months to 1 year of validity. Thus, in order to meet the standards, the the standard will have to be renewed even if the bottle is not empty.

A high concentration standard has a longer life (generally 3 years). The user can therefore consuming more gas in a given bottle, and some very low concentration levels can only be obtained by diluting a mixture of higher content, for stability reasons.

Besides, GasMix ™ optimizes the gas consumption by only automatically charging the gas when it is necessary.

One of our customers – a gas analyzers manufacturer – had a large stock of bottles of standard gases to calibrate their devices, : a compound could be present in 6 bottles of different concentrations, for example:

• Calibration gas – CO2 – 100ppm
• Calibration gas – CO2 – 5000ppm
• Calibration gas – CO2 – 5%
• Calibration gas –CO2– 25%
• Calibration gas –CO2– 50%
• Calibration gas –CO2– 100%

Among the list of compounds to be tested: CO2, CH4, CO, NO, NO2, SO2, N2O.

In order to reduce the stock of bottles, the company acquired one of our dilutors. With GasMix ™, their stock of bottles decreased from 42 to 12!
